About Brooklyn Creative League

Brooklyn Creative League creates extraordinary coworking spaces and cultivates authentic professional communities. The compound supports companies and individuals who share a commitment to community, collaboration, and mutual benefit. Together, the members create businesses, communities, and local economies that are vibrant, inclusive, resilient, and just.
Founded in 2009, Brooklyn Creative League was one of the first coworking spaces to open in the United States, and the “o.g.” Brooklyn coworking space. Founded by the husband-and-wife team of Erin Carney and Neil Carlson, BCL earned a reputation as a top-notch coworking space with an uniquely welcoming and tightly-knit community of members. The Gowanus location expanded in 2010, a year after opening, and filled the entire space by the time it opened. The space expanded again in 2015, with the same result. The compound's steady, disciplined growth has allowed Brooklyn Creative League to build an extraordinary space and authentic professional community while also providing great service to its members, great jobs for its employees, and support for local charities and mission-driven investments.

BCL is a great place for the clean and well appointed work space. But the real benefit is the community that has been created there supported and encouraged by the owners. The effort to make it a welcoming and friendly environment is what makes it a place where you can look forward to getting what you need done and interacting with some genuinely nice people doing interesting and diverse things.
I’ve been a member of BCL for almost 7 years and it has been a great place to start and grow my business. Since starting at BCL, I’ve had offices in other co-working spaces and traditional offices and I always find myself comparing where I am to BCL. The space is well-suited for small businesses to grow and connect with other businesses. One of the greatest assets is being able to connect with other members of the community in industries outside of mine. I’ve learned some great marketing tips from others that I never would have learned otherwise. The infrastructure has grown and become incredibly strong – when I arrive at the office I sit down, open my computer and get right to work (something that you take for granted until you are stuck somewhere without it). If you are looking for a space to start your business, I highly recommend BCL.
Been at BCL few years now, very happy.
BCL is the perfect place for those of us who need an office without taking on a full space. The environment is comfortable and as workspace is conducive to productivity. The big desks are ideal for lots of notebooks/files and having the bulletin board above the desk is incredibly useful. USPS/FedEx/UPS pick up and drop off and copy/print equipment make the day-to-day easy. It's on the same block as the R train and close to lots of great lunch spots. I highly recommend BCL to anyone looking to not work from home or from their lap at a coffee shop; having a co working community inspires you to get more done, I promise!
Nice staff. Very accommodating.
